HKtarzan what can I say? Really brilliant work!
Now we must coordinate our efforts (besides the fact that we can start building a simple project using at least an Arduino board with Modbus RTU interface) to seamless work in line with KiCAD and Altium files.

1 - For that I will continue my efforts into converting Altium files without having to do any editing (hard work and I do not know if it is worth it at this point. But I will give it an honest try with any help from HKtarzan) 
2 - Better still LeisKG method to succeed in using HKtarzan gerber files

Lets go for some board production?

Hello @HKTarzan,
Nice work, but something may be missing. In both projects that you posted altium2kicad missed some
footprints. At first glance the following is missing
Optocoupler U3 + U4
Network RN1 + RN2
Connector P1 + P4
the leds and lightpipe, the usb connector and the switch S1.

Is the path to this components other as for the other components?

I checked and all the schematic symbols and footprints are present in the attached generated library.
I suspect it got to do with the 3D models and the way it may be attached to the footprint library???

Let me know if I can supply it in a different format to assist in solving your problem.....

LeissKG can you convert without any other errors (except these you are quoted above) using altium2kicad?

You use online version or stand alone?. I used the online (not understand how to run correctly the offline version. The program runs but I never find kicad files. Only .bin and.dat files in the directories created)
Anyway conversion input card with the online version I have ?? for GND symbol and a lot of other problems in the hierarchical sheets plus a lot of errors for missing libraries..

If you have any step by step info will greatly appreciated . In that way I can help in the future.

To my knowledge there is no other format that would be helpful. The 3D Models are included
in the conversion. That was the part that was most important to me. The few missing footprints
are easily created with the help of a footprint wizard. Until now the most difficult part was getting
a 3d Model.

no there are still many errors. Willem uses power symbols that have spaces in the name "5V IN" that does not convert. The GND symol does also not convert.
And many footprints are not converted. But the for me most important thing is converted, the 3d models. Most needed footprints do already exist in the standard
Kicad library.

I used the offline version. For this you will need a Perl interpreter.
I worked on windows and used strawberry Perl.

I cloned the altium2kicad git project to my PC.

I also unzipped the archive from @HKTarzan (DI002 - 120VAC Rev 101 (8-13-2018).zip),
including all archives contained in it.

Then i created a new folder. Then i copied the altium files from the following
folder
"Basic ATmega32U4-AU CPU Building Block" and
"Digital Input Modules/120V Input Module 8 Channels" to this new folder
Then i copied the perl files (*.pl) and the folder math from the altium2kicad
folder to this folder.
then i executed the perl files unpack.pl, convertschema.pl and convertpcb.pl

That is not necessary as i can get the step files through altium2kicad. But what i would like
to have is a BOM at least for the new parts of the DO module so that i can get the datasheet
and identify the footprint. That should be possible from the step file but the datasheet is needed
if i want to verify the circuit.

Hi Klaus,
Seems that the offline version was not working because math directory was not on the current directory.
So everything converted like the online version but with many errors.
1 - first i managed to load DI002 - 120VAC Rev 101-SchDoc.sch
on that moment after the system made the conversions for library I had only the GND errors and not the hierarchical sheet present. 
Then when I save the sheet and reopen it I had question marks all over. (library problems?)
2 - I tried to load  OpenPLC ATMega32U4 MCU Rev 101-SchDoc.sch and I have also question marks all over.
it seams that everything is corrupted after saving the project
Looks like filenames must be wrong (because of the spaces?) and project can not find libraries despite the fact that I directed the path into current directory.
And in any case I thing something is wrong about how the two sheets (in hierarchical order) can be read by the KiCAD as one project

I am sending the project to have a look and direct me so to be able to help.
Note that this is input card ver 1.01

BOM coming up today, I normally publish that as PDF, but can pass along the raw Libre Office file if you'd prefer
