How hard would it be to use a PLC ARDBOX 20 as dumb io over modbus. It's only 135euros for it and it has a ton of points plus they are standard 0-10v analogs. I want to use openplc on a raspberry pi and then control the i/o on the industrial Shields controller over modbus rtu locally in the same panel. It has the perfect amount of I/O for my project and the price is right 😁 I already got a simple modbus touch screen from icpdas-usa to act as the simple hmi.

Dead simple. Since ARDBOX supports Modbus natively, just create a Slave Device (Generic RTU Device) and insert the correct configuration for it (i.e. baud rate, COM port, number of registers, etc...) provided by the manufacturer.
