Hello Sir,
I used to program Arduino using IDE and nextion HMI using nextion editor .But I am good at PLC programming I came across your open PLC editor and found it interesting for industrial use .I even explored scada BR functionality My concern is I want to communicate nextion HMI with Arduino programmed using open PLC Editor .
Nextion libraries are available on GitHub and programming software is nextion editor and Hmi supports modbus /tcp .
Do I need to purchase any other hmi which is compatible with your software  as I am not doing on raspberry PI  due to cost reason or is there any work around .

I'm not familiar with this nextion HMI, but if it can talk Modbus/TCP, it should be able to communicate with OpenPLC. The only problem about the Arduino approach is that it is not an independent device. You still need a host connected to the arduino all the time for it to keep working. My suggestion is to go for a Raspberry Pi Zero, which costs only $5.00 and connect an Arduino to its USB port, or you can use the plain Raspberry Pi Zero alone if you only need discrete IO (no analogs).
